Need a hint finding something to do in our waning summer months? Here is a list of some activities, most of which can be enjoyed by all ages. Out-of-town guests will enjoy them as well!

California Academy of Science

Aquarium of the Bay

Discover the beauty and diversity of Northern California aquatic life at the Aquarium of the Bay. A fun experience for kids of all ages. 

SF Giants

Home stand dates: 8/1 – 8/4, 8/12 – 8/14, 8/15 – 8/18, 8/29 – 8/31
Location: Oracle Park in the SoMa District
Baseball season is in full swing and SF Giants games are some of the most popular San Francisco events in August. This month, they play thirteen home games. They play host to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the San Diego Padres. 

San Francisco Chinatown Autumn Moon Festival 

Two day on August 27 & 28 and runs from 11 am – 5 pm both days. Location:  Grant Avenue in the heart of Chinatown.

This colorful event features a parade, live entertainment, arts & crafts, and a variety of food and drinks

The Hungry Howl: Stand-Up Comedy & Cocktails in North Beach

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market

Year-round: Saturday, 8 am – 2 pm, Tuesday & Thursday, 10 am – 2 pm

Location: Embarcadero and Market Streets, San Francisco
The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a California-certified farmer’s market operated by the nonprofit Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA). The market is widely acclaimed for both the quality and diversity of its fresh farm products, and artisan and prepared foods. 

Japanese Tea Garden

The Japanese Tea Garden, the oldest public Japanese garden in the U.S. Free Admission: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-10 AM

San Francisco Marathin –  5K/10K / Half / Full / Ultra

The San Francisco Marathon (TSFM) usually sells out, so get your registration taken care of and keep training. You’ll be joined by local and visiting runners, running courses that feature the city’s iconic landmarks and neighborhoods. 

Grand Lake Farmers Market 

 Recurring weekly on Saturdays | Location: Splash Pad Park, Oakland, 94610

The Oakland farmers market is open every Saturday, year-round, rain or shine, from 9am to 2pm. The Market features over 40 local farmers, 30 specialty food purveyors, and a handful of local artisans. 

Waterfront Flicks at Jack London Square

Thursday nights on the Marina Lawn located near Channel House Apartments for June & July Movie Nights. Bring a blanket, a lawn chair, and some take-out from any of your favorite Jack London Square restaurants!

Art and Soul 2022- 20th Anniversary Celebration 

Saturday, July 23, 2022 | Location: Frank Ogawa Plaza, Oakland, CA 9461

Oakland’s magnetic Art + Soul Festival, celebrating local spirit, style, creativity, and pride, takes place every summer. The annual assemblage of world artists that call Oakland home will bring together the people of America’s most diverse and culturally exciting city to honor its rich musical heritage. 

Oakland A’s

Home stand dates: 8/6 – 8/7, 8/8 – 8/10, 8/19 – 8/21, 8/22 – 8/24, 8/25 – 8/28

You can also head across the bay to catch a game with the Oakland A’s. In August they play 15 home games. Teams visiting this month include the New York Yankees, the San Francisco Giants, and the Seattle Mariners.
