If you're looking to buy a house in the mid-peninsula, look no further for your realtor. There's a reason why Rumana Jabeen & Associates has all 5-star reviews.
HOW WE FOUND THEM:
We met Sasai in summer of 2016 during an open house. We were expecting our first child at the time, and ultimately decided to hold off the house hunt until after the baby was born. Fast forward 1.5 years later, we were ready to get in the market seriously. Sasai kept in touch the whole time, but never pressured us to get back in the market. By then she had started working with Rumana and after our initial meeting with both of them, we were confident that they should be our agents - they were very knowledgeable about the market on the Peninsula, shared insightful anecdotes about helping clients make tradeoffs and win great homes, and seemed to be scrappy go getters.
We've lived in the Bay Area for 3 years and thought we had a good sense on where we wanted to land. What we didn't realize, though, is we generally traversed the more commercial parts of town and didn't actually know that much about all the small pockets of residential neighborhoods, what made them desirable or undesirable, and how to think about investment vs. just loving the neighborhood and home that we would ultimately buy. Rumana and Sasai started our search with extensive drives through neighborhoods the old school way so we could see and feel what each one had to offer.
From there we narrowed down the neighborhoods down to houses. At each house we toured with them they pointed out all of the pros and cons, things other people would or wouldn't like in the event that we wanted to sell the house someday, and ballpark figures on how much it would cost to change things we didn't like. They talked us out of buying houses that seemed to be "the one" as we got impatient with our search, and in hindsight we are so glad they did!
When it came time to make an offer, Rumana and Sasai walked us through the hundreds of pages of documents and what they all meant. They helped us navigate the inspection reports so we would understand what level of risk we were assuming. They gave us their insights on what they thought the other offers might come in at, and what they would do if they were representing the seller. And in the end, Rumana's super power negotiation skills got us our house for less than what the seller's bottom line was.
WHY THEY'RE THE BEST
In a nutshell, these two are amazing at what they do. They each come with their own areas of expertise and personality, but work so well together and with their clients. They are so patient, and will not pressure you into closing a deal. They are direct and realistic, but not condescending. They are an amazing source of knowledge so you can make the most informed decision in this crazy market. They make you feel like you're their only client by being super responsive and giving you all the time you need. They seemingly work at all hours of the day. They're meticulously detail oriented, yet efficient. They stand by their referrals (they put us in touch with an amazing lender that gave us a 0.5% better rate than the other lender we were using). They truly act in your best interest and want to give you the best experience, prioritizing your future referrals over closing any deals. There is absolutely nothing we would have changed in our experience with them. We will be happy to refer all of our friends and family to them, and wouldn't hesitate using them again!!
